Sophomore wins first-round match Wednesday in San Diego

SAN DIEGO — Célia-Belle Mohr led the Vanderbilt women’s tennis team with a win in her opening singles match at the ITA National Fall Championship Wednesday at the Barnes Tennis Center.

The sophomore was victorious in three sets and will now face top-eight seed Anastasiya Komar from Oklahoma State in Thursday’s second round.

Mohr and Anessa Lee dropped their opening doubles match of the tournament, falling in a third-set super tiebreaker to the third seeds in the draw, and fellow sophomore Bridget Stammel was defeated in the first round of singles by a top-eight seed in the bracket.
