Live Results/Tee TimesAfter Vanderbilt’s team win in its own Mason Rudolph Championship a few weeks ago, the Commodores get back at it on Monday morning at the Jack Nicklaus Invitational at the world-renown Muirfield Village Golf Club in Columbus, Ohio. The 54-hole, two-day tournament will feature some of the top teams in men’s collegiate golf.
The Commodores, who will play in the Nicklaus Invitational for the first time, will send junior Charlie Ewing, sophomores Jordan Janico and Hunter Stewart, and freshmen Carson Jacobs and Zack Jaworski to compete in the event.
“I am really excited about the lineup this week,” said Vanderbilt head coach Scott Limbaugh. “We have had a couple of good weeks of preparation and I’m excited to see how our guys respond. I told the guys after the last tournament that we had a lot of things we did really well, but we also have a lot of room for improvement. To their credit, they have been working on these areas and getting better. The biggest thing for our team right now is just to be more consistent in everything we do.
Ten other teams will join the Commodores in Columbus – Arkansas, BYU, Kent State, Kentucky, Ohio State, Oklahoma State, Purdue, San Diego, UCF, and UNLV are slated to compete on Monday and Tuesday.
“We are really excited about the opportunity to play in a great event on one of the best golf courses in the world,” said Limbaugh. “To be able to play in a tournament with Jack Nicklaus’ name on it is very exciting and on a course such as Muirfield is very special. We want to give our guys the opportunity to play on great golf courses against great competition and this tournament will allow us the chance to do that. It will certainly be a great challenge.”
Thirty-six holes will be played on Monday with an 8:45 a.m. shotgun start, with the final 18 holes played on Tuesday.
