Oct. 14, 2008

DURHAM, N.C. — Three Commodores finished in the Top 20 at the 2008 Coca-Cola Individual Collegiate Tuesday at the Duke Golf Club.

Vanderbilt senior John Ebert, the event’s 36-hole leader, placed sixth in the field of 63 after shooting a nine-over 80 for the final 18 holes. Ebert had carded a pair of one-under 70’s during Monday’s first and second rounds, but ended the tournament six strokes behind the pace set by UNC’s Philip Chauncey.

Freshman Trey DelGreco finished in a tie for 11th place at nine-over for the event, two strokes behind his Commodore teammate. Vanderbilt’s Craig Tallent tied for 17th place at 11-over. Tallent shot VU’s low round on Tuesday, a two-over 73, to record his lowest 18-hole score of the week.

Only three Commodores made the trip to Durham for this week’s competition. Vanderbilt’s team schedule resumes on Friday, Oct. 24, when the Commodores travel to Jonesborough, Tenn., to take on the three-day Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate at the Ridges, hosted by East Tennessee State University.
