Second Round Results

HOUSTON – The number-one ranked Vanderbilt Commodore men’s golf team carded a 12-under par, 276, in their second round on Saturday at the All-American Intercollegiate in Houston, Texas, and are in second place on the team leader board with a total of 564 (288-276). All four starters played their second round at 70 or better, with freshman John Augenstein leading the way with a four-under 68. Junior Theo Humphrey leads Vanderbilt after two rounds with a four-under par, 140 (71-69).

The Commodores bounced back from an even-par first round to post the tournament’s second-lowest round on Saturday with the 276. Vanderbilt counted Augenstein’s 68, a 69 from Humphrey and sophomore Patrick Martin, and a 70 from senior Matthias Schwab. Humphrey, Augenstein, Schwab, and Martin are all in the top 12 on the individual leader board.

Vanderbilt trails leader Baylor by 12 shots heading into the final round after the Bears posted a 20-under, 268, on Saturday at the Golf Club of Houston, and has a six-shot lead on third-place Houston.

“I thought the guys competed very well today,” said Vanderbilt head coach Scott Limbaugh. “We didn’t get off to a great start, but really hung in there, which was great and gave ourselves a chance to have a good round. John showed a lot of resiliency all day which is good to see from a freshman. We can only control us and that will be our focus tomorrow. We need to be a little better tomorrow and get off to a good start.”

Individually, the Bears have the top three individual golfers, with Cooper Dossey leading the tournament with a 10-under, 134 (68-66).

The third and final round concludes Sunday from Houston.
