STATESBORO, Ga. – The Commodore men’s golf team is in seventh place after the second round of the Schenkel Invitational with a total of 587 (292-295), with junior Charlie Ewing leading the way for Vanderbilt with a score of 145 (68-77), which places him in a tie for 18th place individually.

“I thought we competed hard today and remained resilient,” said Vanderbilt head coach Scott Limbaugh. “We made a lot of birdies so that is a positive. We also made a lot of big numbers that kept us from having a good round. As a group, we need to learn from our mistakes and have the right focus on the right things. I’m really proud of how Jordan and Mills hung in there all day.”

Vanderbilt’s low round of the day came from sophomore Jordan Janico, who fired an even-par 72. Sophomore Hunter Stewart and junior Mills Rendell carded a 73 to go along with Ewing’s second-round 77 to account for the Commodores’ counting scores.

Alabama leads the team standings with a 563 (282-281) and has a two-stroke lead on Texas. The Crimson Tide also have the number one, two, and three positions on the individual leader board in Justin Thomas, Bobby Wyatt, and Cory Whitsett.

The final round of the Schenkel Invitational concludes on Sunday.
