Men’s Golf Hosts Mason Rudolph Championship Sept 27-28

The fourth-annual Mason Rudolph Championship will be played next Monday and Tuesday (September 27-28) at the Vanderbilt Legends Club.

Fifteen teams, including defending champion Alabama-Birmingham, will be in the field.

Vanderbilt and Southern Methodist are both pre-season Top 25 teams in Golf Week Magazine and there are a number of other strong squads in the field such as Southeastern Conference members LSU, Alabama and Ole Miss.

Three seniors — Ben McClung, Lance Goodson and Mark Donnell — will be in the lineup for Vanderbilt for the Mason Rudolph.  They will be joined by sophomore Luke List and freshman Brett Lange, making his first Commodore appearance.

Lange, from Atlanta’s Marist High School, won the qualifying and the accompanying Rudolph Cup with a 17-under par score over six rounds.

List is coming off a big freshman year that saw him earn All-America honors and finish second in this summer’s United States Amateur Championship while the three seniors complete a lineup that gives the Commodores more experience than in recent years.

The teams play 36 holes Monday and a final 18 Tuesday.  The event will be held on the Roper’s Knob Course at Vanderbilt Legends Club, a Bob Cupp-Tom Kite designed par 71 that measures 6990 yards.
