JONEBOROUGH, Tenn. — The Vanderbilt men’s golf team travels to East Tennessee this weekend to take part in the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate at the Ridges.

The three-day, three-round tournament, now in its 10th year, tees off on Friday morning. The event’s 15-team field includes five Southeastern Conference squads and six Atlantic Coast Conference teams. More than half the field was included in Golfweek’s most recent Top 50 ranking.

“This is a great course,” Head Coach Tom Shaw said after Thursday’s practice round. “The greens are tricky, and everyone will have to adjust to the cooler temperatures. We’ve also got two freshmen in the lineup, and I’m excited to see our new mix.”

Vanderbilt Head Coach Tom Shaw travels with junior Jon Curran, senior Brett Lange, sophomore Chris Rockwell, and freshmen Ryan Haselden and Adam Hofmann.

The Commodores have had a tough start to the 2007-08 season, struggling during their first two events. Vanderbilt plays host to the Mason Rudolph Intercollegiate next week before a winter hiatus.

“In golf, what you did last week or the week before doesn’t really matter much,” Shaw said. “You get a clean slate every time you go out there. Our guys are ready to play this weekend and get things turned around.”

Haselden will lead off for the Commodores, teeing off from the first hole at 8:50 a.m. ET with Aaron Eckstein of Virginia Tech and Simon Doharty of host ETSU.
