MAYAGÜEZ, Puerto Rico — Vanderbilt was represented by Team USA members Audrey Allman, Allyria McBride and Giavonna Meeks at the Pan American U20 Championships on Friday.
To begin the day’s events, Meeks became the Commodores’ first champion at the Pan American games in at least 20 years, winning the hammer throw with a 59.17-meter toss. She entered the competition ranked first with a 60.70-meter throw that won the USATF U20 hammer throw title.
Allman finished sixth in the 1,500 meters, crossing the finish line in 4:41.84.
To end the day in Mayagüez, McBride earned a bronze medal in the 400-meter hurdles, turning in a time of 58.32 seconds. In July, she was the runner-up in the event at the USATF U20 Outdoor Championships.
