Low Scores Hard to Come By

Vandy falls to 12th after second round of Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic

ATHENS, Ga. — Vanderbilt found low numbers hard to come by Saturday during the second round of the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic.

The Commodores shot 22-over-par and dropped to 12th place with a 609 total after 36 holes. South Carolina (+4) has the overall team lead going into Sunday’s final round.

“I’m a little disappointed that we couldn’t find a way today,” Vanderbilt head coach Greg Allen said. “It played really hard out there and it was one of those days that if you can grind out pars and accept a bogey here or there you’d climb the leaderboard. Unfortunately, we were not very good on the greens and made a lot of bad bogies.

“I’m hoping we can show some more toughness and determination (Sunday).”

Auston Kim had Vandy’s low round of the day with a 3-over-par 75. The junior is tied for 35th for the tournament at 7-over-par.

Celina Sattelkau couldn’t keep her momentum going Saturday and finished with a 6-over-par 78. A sophomore, Sattelkau (+4 for the tournament) is still inside the top 20 and tied for 18th going into Sunday.

Louise Yu (+8) is tied for 37th, Tess Davenport (+14) is tied for 63rd and Jayna Choi (+16) is tied for 76th. Ingrid Lindblad of LSU has the individual lead at 5-under-par.

The Commodores are scheduled to return to the course at 8:20 a.m. CT Sunday. Live scoring can be found HERE.
