WALNUT, Calif. — Vanderbilt track and field’s Beatrice Juskeviciute completed the elite heptathlon competition at the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, California. Senior Niki Narayani also competed for the Commodores on Thursday, notching a Vanderbilt top-10 time in the 10,000 meters.
Juskeviciute finished third overall in the heptathlon with a score of 6,073 points, surpassing the previous school record by 546 points and her previous PR by 352 points.
After Day 1, she ranked third among collegiate competitors and sixth overall in the heptathlon with a score of 3,548 points.
To open Day Two of competition, Juskeviciute recorded 6.01 meters in the long jump, good for fourth in school history and a personal best. She tied for fifth place in the event.
Finishing in second place, Juskeviciute reset the school record in the javelin with a throw of 46.98 meters. She set the previous javelin record at the 45.47-meter mark during last weekend’s Joe Walker Invitational.
Clocking a personal best time in the 800 meters (2:16.59), Juskeviciute claimed third place in the seventh and final event.
Over the course of two days and seven events, Juskeviciute recorded six Vanderbilt top 10 marks, including two school records and posted five personal-best performances. With a score of 6,073 points, she is ranked No. 3 in the NCAA and No. 5 in the world in the heptathlon at this point in the season. Her score is also 26th all-time in collegiate history.
In her first time competing in the event, Narayani turned in 33:48.61 in the 10,000 meters. She finished the race in eighth place with the No. 2 time in Vanderbilt history.
Friday’s events at the Mt. SAC Relays will begin at 1 p.m. CT with the 4×100-meter relay.
