Finishes Fourth In Netherlands Competition

Amsterdam, The Netherlands – Junior Josie Hahn recently became the first Commodore track and field athlete since 1997 to compete in Europe, finishing fourth in a heptathlon competition between The United States and The Netherlands.

Hahn, the team’s most valuable performer from the 2003 outdoor season, was one of seven Americans to compete in the dual meet. She finished the competition fourth overall – and third among U.S. team members – after accumulating a two-day heptathlon total of 5,197 points. The competition was captured by fellow American Virginia Miller with 5,655 points.

The international competition closes an outstanding season for the native of Clinton, Tenn. Hahn’s outdoor campaign was highlighted by a fourth place finish in the NCAA Outdoor Championships, second in the Southeastern Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championship and ninth in the USATF National Track & Field Championships. She also qualified for the NCAA Championships in the high jump.

The versatile Hahn also set numerous team records during the season, including the outdoor high jump (5’11.25″), indoor high jump (5’10.25″), outdoor heptathlon (5,444 points) and indoor pentathlon (3,892 points).

Hahn nearly set another team mark in Amsterdam, narrowly missing Janis Rose’s 1993 javelin mark of 140’11”. Hahn’s performance in The Netherlands was highlighted by a personal best javelin toss of 140′.5″.
