ATHENS, Ga. – In the second day of the SEC Championship Track & Field Meet, Vanderbilt senior Rita Jorgensen qualified for the finals of the 800-meter race.
In the preliminaries, Jorgensen finished second in the third heat with a time of 2:06.84, two seconds off Tennessee’s Chanelle Price. The top finisher from each of the four heats, as well as the next five best times advanced to Sunday’s finals, which will be run at 2:45 p.m. CT.
Anna Carr Hawkins and Taylor Jackson both competed in the 200-meter dash, posting times of 24.28 seconds and 24.66 seconds, respectively.
Saturday’s competition begins with the women’s high jump at 11 a.m. CT followed by the pole vault at 1:30 p.m. In the track events, Vanderbilt will compete in the 1500-meter run at 3:15, followed by the 400-meter dash and the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Live results for the meet can be found here.
