Vanderbilt men’s basketball has swept the first two SEC Player of the Week awards of the 2010-11 campaign after Commodore sophomore John Jenkins was named the league’s player of the week on Monday.

Junior Brad Tinsley won player of the week honors after posting the school’s first triple double against Presbyterian on November 12.

Jenkins was named the player of the week after he averaged 21.7 points and 3.0 rebounds in three games at the Puerto Rico Tip-Off in San Juan, P.R. Jenkins led the Commodores in scoring in each of the three games during the tournament, including a 27-point outing against West Virginia. In VU’s upset of eighth-ranked North Carolina, he posted 16 points and made five of his six free throws in the game’s final minute to seal the win. He recorded 22 points in Vanderbilt’s first round win over Nebraska.

Jenkins finished the tournament having made 25-of-28 free throws (.893) and was selected to the Puerto Rico Tip-Off All-Tournament team.
