Senior Zack Jaworski captured the prestigious Sun Bowl Western Refining College All-America Golf Classic, which featured 21 college All-Americans from 2015, on Sunday with a six-under par, 207 (71-69-67) to win the event by two strokes over teammate Matthias Schwab, who tied for second with Zach Wright of LSU and Claudio Correa of South Florida, and his total score of 209 (70-71-68).

Jaworski surged to the top of the leaderboard with his final-round 67, which was the tournament’s best round of the day on Sunday. The senior from Alpharetta, Ga., had six birdies in his third round, finished with 16 for the tournament, and was a combined 10-under par on par four’s and five’s in the event, which was a tournament-best.

“Off the tee I wasn’t as solid as I would have liked, but around the greens I got the putter going and got hot,” Jaworski told Golfstat.com. “I made a lot of birdies coming in and a 32 on the back nine really did it.

Schwab was also solid, and like Jaworski, posted six birdies in his round on Sunday, and for the tournament, had 14 birdies.

Alumni of the Golf Classic have gone on to earn more than $1.6 billion and winning 617 events on the PGA Tour. Over 145 colleges and universities have participated in the tournament, raising more than $753,000 in scholarship money for the participating institutions. Each university represented by the Western Refining College All-Americans will receive a $1,000 scholarship.

Jaworski joins former Vanderbilt alum and current PGA Tour member Luke List as winners of the event, with List winning the tournament in 2005. Commodore alum and current PGA star Brandt Snedeker also competed in the All-America in 2002.

“We are really excited for Jaws and Matthias and how they represented themselves and our program,” said Vanderbilt head coach Scott Limbaugh. “This is a great event with great history and for them to finish first and second is really a big deal. It’s a great way for our team to end the fall and these guys took advantage of an opportunity they created for themselves, which is exciting.”

Jaworski, Schwab, and the rest of the Commodores return to the course February 20-21 at the SunTrust Gator Invitational in Gainesville, Fla.
