WINDERMERE, Fla. – Vanderbilt junior Hunter Stewart shot a second-round 70 to lead all Commodore golfers at the Isleworth Collegiate Invitational in Windermere, Fla., and the Commodores are in seventh place on the team leader board with a two-round score of 579 (287-292).

Stewart’s 70 led the way for the Vanderbilt team, who also counted a one-over par, 73, from junior Jordan Janico, a 74 from freshman Matthias Schwab, and a 75 from junior Ben Fogler. Senior Charlie Ewing fired a 78 for the Commodores on Monday.

“Obviously, we got off to a slow start today,” said Vanderbilt head coach Scott Limbaugh. “However, I was really proud of the fight and resiliency we showed when things didn’t go the way we wanted them to go. It was really a strong back nine for the team. Hunter played really solid all day and just kept hanging in there. Tomorrow is another day where we have an opportunity be excellent in controlling the things we can control and playing with passion.”

Vanderbilt is in seventh position at the tournament, and is only three strokes back of sixth-place Florida State. Nine of the top 30 teams in men’s college golf are competing at the tournament this week.

Alabama leads the tournament with a two-round score of 552 (280-272), 11 strokes better than second-place UCF. The Crimson Tide’s Trey Mulinax leads all individuals with a 10-under par, 134 (66-68).

The third and final round concludes on Tuesday from the Isleworth Country Club.
