Hoffmann shoots even 72 to close out day two of East Regional

RADFORD, Va. – Vanderbilt men’s golfer Adam Hofmann shot an even 72 at the Pete Dye River Course of Virginia Tech on day two of the three-day NCAA East Region Championship to move into a tie for 22nd place.

The junior opened the day with a bogey on hole two but came back to birdie the 588-yard third hole and the 399-yard sixth hole to finish out the front nine with a 35. Hofmann shot two birdies and three bogies to close out his Friday afternoon.

Hofmann remains at five-over after shooting a 77 in the opening round.

Vanderbilt’s lone representative was selected as an individual competitor at the Regional Championship after leading the Commodores with a 73.3 stroke average this season. Only the top individual whose team is not in the top five will advance through the East Regional to the NCAA National Championship may 31-June 5 at Karsten Creek in Stillwater, Okla.

Oklahoma’s Abraham Ancer and Georgia Tech’s Kyle Scott are tied at the top of the leader board at three-under. Scott came into the day with the top score but shot a one-over while Ancer shot a 71.

Georgia Tech still holds the lead in team competition at six-over while Duke trails by three. Oklahoma rounds out the group at 12-over par.
