Hahn Claims Second Straight 400-Meter Hurdle Title 3/27/2005 4×1500 Relay Squad Also Wins at Clemson Relays Clemson, S.C. — Though Commodore athlete Josie Hahn has plenty of events to select from, she can add the 400-meter hurdles to the list. Hahn, an All-American in the pentathlon and heptathlon, continued to show plenty of potential in the 400-meter hurdles, winning the event at the Clemson Relays Saturday with a performance of 1:00.99. It was the second straight weekend she won at the distance, following a victory at the Commodore Spring Classic last Saturday. While Hahn showed her versatility, a Commodore distance relay squad showcased its skill in a winning effort. The foursome of Debbie Huss, Julie Eckerly, Caitlin Shannon and Brittany Sizer swept the 4×1,500-meter relay in 19:12.49. Another Commodore distance runner, Aline Bernard, joined Hahn as a Vanderbilt individual winner by capturing the 10,000-meter run comfortably in 40:14.49. One week ago on the Vanderbilt campus, Hahn ran her first collegiate 400-meter hurdles race when coaches looked for an interesting early-season competition to keep the multi-event standout sharp. After a pair of victories, they might have stumbled on yet another quality race option for the senior. Hahn captured the hurdles competition in easy fashion, knocking 1.3 seconds off her time at the Vanderbilt Spring Classic. Her effort ranks fourth all-time on the Commodore outdoor list, and tops the Southeastern Conference outdoor list. In other competition at the Clemson Relays involving Commodore participants: |
