Box Score | Black & Gold – Game 4
The Gold team scored a 4-1 victory in Game 4 of the Black & Gold Series to claim their seventh straight series victory.
Gold starter Tyler Beede was sharp over five innings allowing only a triple to Ro Coleman to earn the win. Beede sat down the first nine batters he faced, striking out six Black team batters the first time through the lineup. Coleman lined a triple into the right field corner to open the fourth inning and Xavier Turner drove him in one batter later on a sacrifice fly. But that was the only threat the Black team would make all night. Beede retired the next five batters he faced in order before handing the ball over to Steven Rice. On the night, Beede allowed one run on one hit with no walks and eight strikeouts over five innings. In his two starts in the Series, Beede struck out 14 and walked none over his two innings.
The Gold team took the lead for good in the third inning with a pair of runs. Black team starter T.J. Pecoraro walked Aubrey McCarty and Nolan Rogers with one out. Pecoraro bounced back to get Dansby Swanson to fly out but Rhett Wiseman made Pecoraro pay, ripping a double into the right field corner to score both runs. Zander Wiel tacked on two more runs in the fifth beating out a potential inning-ending double play that allowed Rogers and Swanson to score from third and second, respectively.
Rice and Brian Miller combined to work the final two innings with Miller notching the save, turning a double play to end the game. Pecoraro took the loss for the Black team allowing two runs on four hits over four innings.
Despite the Gold team clinching the Series, the two teams will play the fifth and final game tomorrow at 4 p.m. at Hawkins Field.
