Freshmen Represent Vanderbilt in Eugene

Bria Bennis, Lena Gooden, Michael Skora competed at the USATF U20 Championships

EUGENE, Ore. – Vanderbilt track and field was represented by three of its freshmen, Bria Bennis, Lena Gooden and Michael Skora, at the USATF U20 Championships at Hayward Field Wednesday and Thursday.

In the long jump, second-team All-American Gooden notched a top mark of 6.06 meters to place 10th overall. She also clocked 11.82 seconds in the 100 meters.

Skora broke the school record in the 800 meters, coming in fifth with a time of 1:49.76.

Also on the track, Bennis placed third in the 3,000 meters, registering a personal-best time of 9:43.80.

The Commodores’ post-NCAA season continues with several national championship meets in June. Current and former Vanderbilt student-athletes will look to qualify for their respective countries’ Olympic teams.
