Franklin Earns SEC Nod

Faith Franklin turned in a pair of program all-time top 10 marks to open the outdoor season

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — After recording wins in the 400 meters and as a member of the 4×400-meter relay in the Commodores’ outdoor track and field season debut, Vanderbilt’s Faith Franklin was named the SEC Freshman of the Week by the league on Tuesday.

At the Hampton Inn River City Relays, Franklin recorded a personal-best time of 52.73 seconds in the 400 meters, which ranked third in program history. The mark is also the third-fastest mark in the SEC, fifth-best in the NCAA this season. She also contributed to Vandy’s 4×400-meter relay, which turned in a time of 3:34.84. The time is ranked No. 3 in school history, No. 2 in the conference and No. 3 in the NCAA so far this season.

The Dores are back in action at Raleigh Relays on Thursday.
