NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Four of Vanderbilt’s seven players in the NFL Playoffs have advanced to the divisional round. Oren Burks and Jordan Matthews were victorious with San Francisco, Allan George and the Bengals have moved on and Tre Herndon’s Jaguars won their first game.
Ke’Shawn Vaughn and Justin Skule saw their season end with Tampa Bay, while Trent Sherfield’s Dolphins also fell on wild card weekend.
OREN BURKS AND JORDAN MATTHEWS
San Francisco flew past the Seahawks, 41-23, in the wild card round. Burks had a tackle and played 19 snaps on defense in the effort, while also appearing on 21 special teams plays. Matthews remains on injured reserve.
The 49ers host the Cowboys in the divisional round on Sunday (5:30 p.m. CT on FOX).
ALLAN GEORGE
Cincinnati took down AFC North rival Baltimore, 24-17. George saw the field for four plays of special teams.
The Bengals visit Buffalo on Sunday (2 p.m. CT on CBS).
TRE HERNDON
Herndon played 48 of Jacksonville’s 70 defensive snaps as the Jaguars rallied to defeat the Chargers, 31-30. He recorded a pair of QB hurries.
Jacksonville travels to Kansas City on Saturday (3:30 p.m. on NBC).
TRENT SHERFIELD
Sherfield did not record a catch as Miami’s season came to a close in a 34-31 loss to the second-seeded Bills.
He finished his first season in Miami with 30 receptions for 417 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
JUSTIN SKULE AND KE’SHAWN VAUGHN
Vaughn saw the field for one offensive snap and 11 special teams plays as Tampa Bay fell to Dallas, 31-14. Skule remained inactive.
Vaughn, who won Super Bowl LV as a rookie with Tampa Bay, capped his third season with the Buccaneers recording 53 yards on 17 rushes.
