NASHVILLE, Tenn. – In a preview of the SEC Indoor Championships, Vanderbilt track and field will head to the A&M Invitational this weekend in College Station, Texas.
This will be the Commodores first look at Texas A&M’s Gilliam Indoor Stadium before the Aggies host the SEC Indoor Championships in three weeks, Feb. 28-29.
Twenty-five Commodores will make the trip to Texas for the 15-team meet that features Arkansas, Central Florida, Cincinnati, Georgia Tech, Houston, Rice, Texas and TCU, among others.
The Commodores will begin the meet Friday night with the distance medley relay at 6:30 p.m. The second day of competition begins at 12:30 p.m., and continues through the 4×400-meter relay at 5:40 p.m.
Last time out, in the first road meet of the year, three medals and several personal bests highlighted a fast Clemson Invitational for the Commodores. Sophomore Haley Walker and senior Reagan Bustamante earned silver and bronze, respectively, in the 800 meters, while Vanderbilt’s distance medley relay finished second as Becca Schulte (3:32), Regan Clay (58.71), Bustamante (2:11.16) and Walker (4:56.51) combined to earn the silver in 11:38.64.
Next week, the Commodores will return home for their final home indoor meet of the season. Vanderbilt will host the Music City Challenge, Feb. 14-15.
