Colwell, DeBeer conclude competition in the first day of U.S. Open

ATLANTA – Sophomores Lizzy Colwell and Tonner DeBeer raced their first races of the U.S. Open on Friday at the Georgia Tech McAuley Aquatic Center.

Colwell opened the day for the pair by competing in the 100-meter breaststroke. Colwell touched in just shy of her personal best at 1:13.48 to finish top-100 in the event.

DeBeer concluded her events in the U.S. Open by racing in both the 100-meter backstroke and 100-meter butterfly.

In the 100 fly, DeBeer placed 114th finishing in 1:03.56.

DeBeer concluded the day racing in the 100 back where she touched in at 1:05.91.

Colwell will continue competition on Saturday racing in her final event, the 200-meter breaststroke.
