The Vanderbilt track and field team completed the first day of the Meyo Invitational on Friday night at the University of Notre Dame.

The Commodores picked up a pair of personal-best times in the 5000-meter run on Friday night with junior Megan Huebner finishing with a time of 16:54.74 and freshman Mailin Struck crossing the line at the 16:59.66 mark. Huebner and Struck finished 16th and 19th overall, respectively.

Senior Sarah Goodale also earned a new personal-record for Vanderbilt in the 60-meter hurdles. Goodale’s time of 8.82 was good for 32nd overall and eclipsed her previous career-best time of 8.85 from this season’s Vanderbilt Indoor Opener on Dec. 3. Sophomore Erin Hardnett also competed in the 60-meter hurdles for the Commodores and recorded a time of 9.22. In addition to the 60-meter hurdles, Hardnett also represented Vanderbilt in the 200-meter dash, where she finished with a time of 26.43.

In the first flight of women’s pole vault, freshman Margaret Ollinger duplicated her collegiate-best vault of 12′ 9.50″, which she first achieved on Jan. 21 at the Vanderbilt Invitational. Ollinger’s vault tied with Alexa Jarrett (Toledo) and Danielle Wojciechowski (Bethel) for the top mark in the first flight of the pole vault, which consisted of 20 competitors. Additional flights of the pole vault will take place tomorrow with Commodore athletes Sarah Bell and Caleigh Lofstead set to compete.

Vanderbilt’s distance medley relay team consisting of Reagan Bustamante, Ginger Hutton, Maddie Criscione and Kendall Derry placed 15th with a time of 12:06.78.

In the 600-meter run, the last event of the night, Sarah Goodale and Lydia Witty both placed in the top-20 and finished with nearly identical times. Goodale placed 19th with a time of 1:35.40 and Witty finished just behind her at 20th with a time of 1:35.41.

The Meyo Invitational returns to action tomorrow morning beginning with the women’s 60-meter hurdle semi-finals at 8:45 a.m. (CT). The first event with Vanderbilt competitors will be the triple jump at 9:00 a.m., with seniors Simone Charley and Tierney Price scheduled to participate.
