Final Regular Season Tests on Tap

Vanderbilt track and field will host the Music City Challenge as its final regular reason meet

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Vanderbilt track and field will host more than 50 teams at the David Williams II Recreation and Wellness Center for the Music City Challenge Friday and Saturday. It is Vandy’s final regular season meet before heading to College Station, Texas, for the SEC Indoor Championships Feb. 27 to March 1.

Dore notes
• Vanderbilt previewed the site of the 2025 NCAA Indoor Championships in Virginia Beach, Virginia, last weekend at the East Coast Invitational
• Five Dores added or improved their marks on the program all-time top 10 lists
• A total of 10 student-athletes recorded personal bests in Virginia Beach
• The Commodores’ 60-meter hurdles squad jumped 22 spots to No. 12 in the Feb. 11 USTFCCCA Event Squad Rankings
• Falon Spearman is now ranked second in program history in the 60-meter hurdles after clocking 8.25 seconds to win the event final at the East Coast Invitational
• Spearman is the eighth-ranked 60-meter hurdler in the SEC and top 40 in the NCAA
• Junior Marta Sivina (No. 5) and freshman Devyn Parham (T-No. 8) improved their marks on the Vanderbilt all-time top 10 list with PRs in the 60mH
• In the high jump, freshman Mackenzie Dagrosa cleared the 1.69-meter bar, which is the ninth best mark in school history
• Dagrosa placed second overall and first among freshmen in the event
• Graduate student Tina Benzinger clocked a season best 7.59 seconds in the 60 meters, improving her time in the Vandy record books

Special events
Vanderbilt track and field will celebrate Black History Month at the Music City Challenge by honoring notable Black individuals who have impacted the Vanderbilt community and the track and field program, including Ryan Tolbert Jackson, Simone Charley, D’andre “DeeDee” Hill, Veronica Fraley and others.

The program will also welcome back former Commodores for alumni weekend.

Fans can watch the Music City Challenge on SEC Network+ Friday and Saturday and view live results online. Action gets underway Friday at 10:30 a.m. with the open divisions of the shot put and high jump.
