JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jenn Edobi led the Vanderbilt track and field team in night one of the NCAA Preliminaries.
The graduate student-athlete ran a personal best time of 2:05.32 in the 800 meters. The time put Edobi ninth overall. She will advance to the quarterfinals of the race tomorrow at 6:30 p.m.
The time also makes Edobi the second-best 800-meter performer in school history.
“It was a great race for Jenn,” said head coach Steven Keith. “Over a second improvement on her personal best and very competitive within her heat. She was the fastest of the time qualifiers and should be in good shape to run for a qualifying spot at NCAA Nationals.”
Reagan Bustamante (2:09.20) andHaley Walker (2:09.61) also completed the race.
Grace Jensen was the lone Commodore in the 1,500 meters. The freshman clocked a time of 4:24.80.
The Vanderbilt pole vaulting trio of SEC Champion Kristen Denk, Caleigh Lofstead and Margaret Ollinger will also compete tomorrow at 5 p.m.
