Event: IAAF World Relays
Dates: Apr. 22-23
Location: Nassau, Bahamas
Junior Jenn Edobi competed on the Nigerian 4×400 relay team at the IAAF World Relay Prelims on Saturday and helped Nigeria clinch a spot in Sunday’s finals with a heat-winning time of 3:31.97. The top two times in each of the three heats, along with two wild cards, earned qualification for the 4×400 finals tomorrow evening. Nigeria’s heat featured some top-tier competition including Great Britain and the host Bahamas, which featured 2016 400-meter dash gold medalist Shaunae Miller in their lineup.
Edobi ran the third leg in the relay for the Nigerians and was instrumental in cutting down what was a large Bahamian lead, before handing the baton over to Nigeria’s anchor Margaret Bamgbose, who took the lead and refused to relinquish it, which sealed Nigeria’s spot in the finals tomorrow.
The finals of the 4×400 relay will be run at 8:10 p.m. (CT) and will feature the following countries
| Rank | Heat | Team | Time |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 1 | United States | 3:29.27 |
