Dores Wrap Up Day 2 at SEC's

Vanderbilt competed for second straight day in Athens

ATHENS, Ga. — The Vanderbilt swimming team continued the SEC Championships on Thursday at Georgia’s Gabrielsen Natatorium.

Krislyn Porter and Abby Burke were the first Commodores to compete as they clocked respective times of 5:00.79 and 5:08.1 in the 500-yard freestyle.

Five Dores — Lizzy Colwell, Lindsey Gordon, Abby Burke, Lauren Thomas and Brooke Ellis — all took part in the 200-yard individual medley.

Tonner DeBeer finished off the prelims with a 23.49 performance in the 50-yard freestyle and was followed by Chantal Jordan, Gabriela Pierobon Mays, Alina Stout, Kaley Buchanan, Allison Bauer and Lauren McCormack.

Eleanor Beers, Jordan, Pierobon Mays and DeBeer teamed to go 1:33.25 in the 200-yard freestyle relay to close the evening.

Through seven events, the Dores are in 12th place with 94 points.

Day three will start at 9 a.m. CT with the prelims followed by the finals at 5 p.m. All sessions of the championships can be seen live on SEC Network+.
