Vanderbilt faces Medaille in second match

NORTH KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Vanderbilt was sharp in sweeping Mount St. Marys 2-0 in the first round of the NCAA Bowling Championship on Wednesday morning.

The Commodores advanced to face Medaille at 3 p.m. Wednesday.

Vandy won the team-game point over Mount St. Mary’s 1,040-937 with four Dores scoring over 200. Freshman Jennifer Loredo led the way with a 236 while Mabel Cummins had a 211, Samantha Gainor a 205 and Angelica Anthony added a 204.

In the 5-Game Baker set, Vandy dropped the first game but stormed back with big games of 227-229 and 206 to grab a lead of over 100 pins. The final score was 1,045-944. Vandy used a rotation of Anthony, Loredo, Amanda Naujokas, Gainor and Cummins.
