NASHVILLE, Tenn. — For the sixth consecutive season, the Vanderbilt women’s tennis team will compete at ITA National Team Indoors this weekend. Hosted by the University of Wisconsin inside the Nielsen Tennis Stadium, the Dores are the top seed in the national tournament for the second time in program history.
Ranked No. 1 in the latest USTA poll, the Commodores will face 12th-ranked Wake Forest tomorrow at 6:30 p.m. CT.
Commodore Notables:
- Dores are ranked second in the ITA poll (1/31) and 1st in the latest USTA poll (2/7)
- Commodores travel to sixth consecutive ITA Team Indoors
- VU heads into the weekend with a 4-0 record as the tournament’s top seed
- The Dores swept then-No. 1 Stanford in their last match
- Redshirt-senior, Astra Sharma, was named this week’s SEC Player of the Week
- Vandy boasts three players in the latest ITA singles poll; Fernanda Contreras (5), Christina Rosca (19) and Sharma (51)

Scouting the Deacons:
- Wake Forest is currently ranked 21st in the latest ITA poll and tied for 12th in the USTA’s poll
- Wake Forest won its ITA Kickoff Weekend draw for the first time in program history by defeating No. 18 Arkansas and No. 14 Ohio State
- It is the team’s first appearance at National Team Indoors since 2006
- Two players rank inside the top 100 of the ITA’s singles rankings; junior Emma Davis (77) and Eliza Omirou (80)
- The duo of Emma Davis and Chandler Carter sit at No. 22, while Omirou and Anna Ulyashchenko check in at No. 34.
