Dores to Host Second Straight NCAA Regional

Vanderbilt enters NCAA Tournament as No. 14 overall seed, set to host Clemson, ETSU and Xavier

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — For the second straight season, Vanderbilt women’s tennis will host the first and second round of the NCAA Tournament after securing the No. 14 overall seed in the bracket. The Commodores matchup against Xavier in the opening round on Friday, with the advancing team set to play on Saturday against the winner of Clemson and ETSU.

Vanderbilt (20-9, 9-6 SEC) begins with Xavier (16-8, 4-0 SEC) once again after downing the Musketeers 4-0 in the opening round of last season’s tournament. The two teams also met earlier this year, with the Commodores pulling out a 6-1 victory on Feb. 20. Vandy will host an NCAA Regional in consecutive years for the first time since doing so in 2018 and 2019.

The black and gold followed up last year with another 19-win season, featuring four total ranked victories. The highlight for the Dores came on March 6 after upending No. 1 Georgia 4-2 in Nashville. It was Vanderbilt’s first takedown of a top-ranked team since 2019. Senior Bridget Stammel leads the charge in the ITA singles rankings for the Commodores at No. 11, followed by graduate Célia-Belle Mohr at No. 32 and junior Valeria Ray at No. 33. Mohr and sophomore Sophia Webster remain the top-ranked Dore duo at No. 6 and are joined by Ray and Stammel at No. 15. Both Ray and Stammel were named first-team All-SEC, with Mohr earning second-team All-SEC honors.

The NCAA requires ticket sales at every championship event. Tickets will be sold on a walk-up basis Friday and Saturday: $10 for general admission and $5 for students and children.

This season marks the 29th total NCAA Tournament appearance for the program; Vanderbilt has advanced to the Sweet 16 in two of the last four years. The Dores took home the national championship title in 2015, marking their first in program history.
