Dores shoot -9 on Monday, move up six spots at QCC

Second Round Results

CABO SAN LUCAS, Mexico – Vanderbilt carded a nine-under par, 275, the second lowest team score of the day, at the Querencia Cabo Collegiate in Los Cabos, Mexico, and moved up six places on the team leader board to a tie for sixth with Florida State on Monday. The Commodores have a two-round score of 569 (294-275) heading into the third and final round on Tuesday.

Vanderbilt counted four scores in the 60’s Monday, with freshman Patrick Martin leading the way with a second-round 68. Freshman Will Gordon, sophomore Theo Humphrey, and junior Matthias Schwab each carded a 69 on the day.

“It was a really good day for our team,” said Vanderbilt head coach Scott Limbaugh. “We told them last night that today would be a character day, meaning they would have the opportunity to show the character of Vanderbilt golf. This is a three round golf tournament, so we have to come out tomorrow with the same focus and intensity we had today. We continue to ask them to have the right buy-in and embrace this journey we are on right now. When we do those things we are a pretty good team.”

First-place Georgia carded the low round of the day with a team total of 268 to move into the top spot in the team standings. The Bulldogs hold an eight-shot lead on second-place South Florida.

The tournament will conclude on Tuesday with an 8 a.m. Pacific Time shotgun start at the par-71, Los Cabos Querencia.

“Tomorrow will be another opportunity for us to grow and learn more about ourselves,” said Limbaugh.
