NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt women’s tennis welcomes Middle Tennessee and Bellarmine to Music City for a Friday doubleheader at the Currey Tennis Center.
The Dores notched a bounce back win over the Bulldogs of Yale in the consolation round of ITA Kickoff Weekend from Ann Arbor, one day removed from a 4-1 loss to UCSB. Sophomore Valeria Ray has led the charge for Vandy in singles play: she remains unbeaten in spring season singles, and holds a 15-4 overall singles record throughout the season. Junior Bridget Stammel continues to pace the team in ranked singles wins, currently with three. The top two doubles positions both have collected ranked wins throughout the season so far, with senior Célia-Belle Mohr and freshman Sophia Webster leading the team at two.
Middle Tennessee enters the doubleheader coming off a 7-0 sweep over Chattanooga at home on Sunday. The Blue Raiders are winless against the Dores in the all-time series, with Vanderbilt holding a 7-0 advantage over their Murfreesboro neighbors. The most recent victory came as a 7-0 decision in 2023. In total, the Dores have outscored the Blue Raiders 46-3 throughout their seven total meetings. Bellarmine comes to Nashville in search of its first win on the season. The Knights have yet to play a home match. The contest is just the second all-time meeting between the two programs; Vanderbilt downed Bellarmine 4-0 in 2023.
