`Dores ranked 24th in preseason AP poll

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – When Vanderbilt’s women’s basketball team tips off the 2010-11 season on Thursday with an exhibition game against Delta State, it will do so with a No. 24 ranking in the preseason AP poll.

The preseason poll was released on Friday and includes four teams from the Southeastern Conference, including the Commodores.

UConn is ranked first and is followed by Baylor. In addition to Vanderbilt’s No. 24 ranking, Tennessee is ranked No. 4, Kentucky No. 9 and Georgia No. 19. LSU finished just out of the top 25 and received more votes than any school not ranked in the top 25.

Vanderbilt was ranked No. 22 in the 2009-10 preseason AP poll.
