FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – In the second day of competition at the SEC Indoor track and field championships, the Commodores posted several personal best times and advanced a runner to the finals of the one-mile race on Sunday.

Competition began with the 60-meter dash, where Anna Hawkins posted a time of 7.72 seconds. Later in the day, Hawkins ran in the 200-meter dash where she clocked a time of 24.93 seconds. In the 400-meter dash, Teegan Hill clocked in at 57.85 seconds.

Rita Jorgensen advanced to the finals of the one mile run with a third place finish in Saturday’s preliminary race. She posted a time of 4:52.48 in Heat 1, which was less than two seconds off the first place finisher.

“Rita ran a very solid race today,” said distance coach Steve Keith. “Prelims can get tactical and pretty physical, and today was no different, but Rita handled it well. She’s very motivated to run well in tomorrow’s final.”

In the 800-meter race, Kristen Findley posted a personal best time of 2:18. Liz Anderson, Louise Hannallah and Megan Yohe all competed in the 3000-meter race, with Anderson pacing the Commodores with a time of 9:40.66. Hannallah clocked in at 9:51.27 while Yohe posted a time of 10:25.32. While Anderson just missed out on scoring points in the competition, she cut 12 seconds off her personal best time in the 3000 meters, and her time stands as fourth all-time at Vanderbilt.

In the high jump, freshmen Brionne Williams and Ellie Tidman both cleared a height of 1.68m (5’6″). Williams finished tied for ninth while Tidman was tied for 12th, due to the number of attempts. Williams was the top freshman in the competition.

“Brionne and Ellie competed well tonight,” said assistant coach Clark Humphreys. “It was a good ending to their indoor season, and this experience will serve them well heading into the outdoor season. They have extremely bright futures.”

The final day of competition begins on Sunday, and Vanderbilt will compete in several events, including the one-mile final, pole vault, distance medley relay and the 5000 meter race.
