Dores move up to 5th in Tavistock 2nd Round

Second Round Results

WINDERMERE, Fla. – The Commodore men’s golf team moved up one position at the Tavistock Collegiate Invitational on Monday after firing a team score of 294 in the second round of play at the Isleworth Country Club in Windermere, Fla. Vanderbilt has a two-round score of 584 (290-294) for the event. Freshman Will Gordon is the individual leader for Vanderbilt with a score of 142 (71-71), which puts him in a tie for fourth place.

The Commodores, who trail fourth-place North Florida by one shot heading into the final round on Tuesday, counted freshman Patrick Martin’s 70, Gordon’s 71, junior Matthias Schwab’s 73, and a pair of 80’s from sophomore Theo Humphrey and senior Carson Jacobs.

“It was a tough day out there with windy conditions,” said Vanderbilt head coach Scott Limbaugh. “When things are tough, it makes you better and we talked about embracing that. We had three really good rounds today that meant a lot for our team. Patrick and Will were solid all day and Matthias showed a lot of resiliency in how he fought all day. We need a team effort tomorrow and we need to show some pride in how we compete.”

California maintains the team lead and has a total of 569 (279-290). The Golden Bears lead second-place Illinois by nine shots. Individually, Colin Morikawa of Cal has the lead with a two-round score of 137 (67-70), one shot better than Arizona State’s Max Rottluff.

The final round of the tournament concludes on Tuesday, with the Commodores teeing off at 8:50 ET with North Florida and North Carolina.
