HUTCHINSON, Kan. – The Commodore men’s golf team is in a tie for 11th in the team standings and only three strokes back of the top-eight match play cut after two rounds of play at the NCAA Championship in Hutchinson, Kansas, with a total of 566 (281-285).

Vanderbilt, who finished 11 to 14 holes of their second round on Saturday afternoon, returned to the course on Sunday morning at 7 a.m. to complete their round. Junior Hunter Stewart carded the team’s best second-round at even-par 70, with the Commodores also counting a 71 from sophomore Carson Jacobs and a pair of two-over 72’s from senior Charlie Ewing and Ben Fogler. Junior Jordan Janico shot a four-over, 74, in the second round.

“It was a long 36 holes and the guys handled it really well,” said Vanderbilt head coach Scott Limbaugh. “We showed the competitive character that we have talked about out all year. Yesterday we had a lot of momentum when we stopped and we couldn’t quite get that back this morning, but it was playing tougher this morning with some wind.”

Stanford leads the tournament and has completed its first two rounds at 12-under par, 548 (281-267), four strokes better than second-place Alabama, who has a total of 552 (274-278).

Cameron Wilson of Stanford leads all individuals with a two-round score of six-under, 134, which was boosted by a second-round 63. He leads his teammate, Patrick Rodgers, by one stroke.

Vanderbilt will begin its third round at 12:50 CT at Prairie Dunes Country Club with Illinois and Auburn, with the other teams ranked in the top 15 after two rounds also teeing off in the afternoon. Teams 16-30 will begin their third round on Sunday afternoon and finish their rounds on Monday morning.

The Golf Channel will begin its coverage of the NCAA Championship on Monday at 4 p.m. CT.
