FRANKLIN, Tenn. – The number-three ranked Commodores shot their second consecutive seven-under par, 277, at the Mason Rudolph Championship and are in third place on the team leader board with a total of 554 (277-277), which is four shots behind team leader Alabama and three shots back of second-place Florida.

Vanderbilt was led by senior Matthias Schwab, who finished his second round at the par-71, 7,100-yard South Course with a three-under 68. The Commodores also counted a pair of 69’s from freshman John Augenstein and sophomore Patrick Martin, and an even-par 71 from junior Theo Humphrey. The Commodores counted 17 birdies on the day and lead the tournament in birdies with 46.

Humphrey is Vanderbilt’s leader after two rounds and stands in a tie for fourth on the individual leader board with a five-under 137 (66-71). Augenstein is in a tie for eighth with a 138 (69-69), while Schwab is in a tie for 18th with a two-under 140 (72-68).

“First of all, it was a lot of fun out there today,” said Vanderbilt head coach Scott Limbaugh. “I am proud of how Patrick and Matthias bounced back and John was solid all day. Theo showed an awful lot of resiliency in how he hung in there after a tough start. I thought we did a lot of really good things, but we can be better.”

Alabama recorded their low round of the season on Saturday at the Vanderbilt Legends Club, carding a 12-under par, 272, to vault into the team lead with a total of 18-under par, 550 (278-272). The Crimson Tide have a three-shot lead on Florida and a four-shot lead on the Commodores.

Individually, two Gators, Sam Horsfield and Andy Zhang, and one Alabama player, Josh Sedeno, lead all individuals with a six-under, 136.

The third and final round concludes on Sunday at the Vanderbilt Legends Club.

“We have another great opportunity tomorrow to grow and take another step towards being the team we know we can be,” said Limbaugh. “I know the guys will be excited to play tomorrow and they understand that it’s important because it effects where we want to go.”
