Vandy, Tennessee, and Georgia are all undefeated in SEC play

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The No. 17 Vanderbilt women’s tennis team will face off against two undefeated, top 20 SEC rivals in No. 16 Tennessee and No. 3 Georgia.

Vanderbilt is 2-0 in SEC play so far, coming off wins against Ole Miss and Mississippi State last weekend. In the latest ITA polls, Vanderbilt had five players ranked among the top 120 in singles: Celia-Belle Mohr at No. 48, Bridget Stammel at No. 60, Anna Ross at No. 80, Holly Staff at No. 111 and Anessa Lee at No. 113. Mohr and Lee also earned a No. 68 ranking in doubles.

Tennessee was victorious over both Missouri and Arkansas in its SEC debut. Overall, the Lady Vols are 9-2 with both losses coming to ranked opponents. The in-state rival has three top 60 singles players and one top 55 doubles pairing.

Last weekend, Georgia, similar to Tennessee, also defeated Arkansas and Missouri. The Bulldogs are 8-3 overall this season with two of their three losses coming to No. 1 North Carolina. Georgia had five players earn a spot in the singles rankings this week as well as two doubles pairings earning spots among the top 40 nationally.

Friday’s match against Tennessee will begin at 3 p.m. CT followed by Sunday’s match against Georgia at 1 p.m. CT.

Home Match Notes

Both matches will be played at the Lummis Family Tennis Center, and admission is free. Fans must enter through the 25th Avenue entrance and follow the university’s clear bag policy.

Daddy’s Dogs will be set up at Friday’s match, and Elliston Place Soda Shop will have a food truck at Sunday’s match. The first $500 worth of food for fans will be compliments of Vanderbilt’s tennis program. Alcohol will be available for purchase.
