Vandy drops nonconference meet to Georgia Tech

ATLANTA – Vanderbilt christened the 2021 portion of its season with a nonconference meet Saturday at Georgia Tech at McAuley Aquatic Center.

“I’m really glad that we got a chance to race again, especially for our seniors,” head coach Jeremy Organ said. “We’ll learn from this as we begin preparations to compete at the SEC Championships.”

Vandy fought hard throughout the affair in the final dual meet for the senior class.

Lizzy Colwell blazed the 100 breast in 1:03.14 for third, with the same finish coming in the 200 breast (2:17.49).

Krislyn Porter’s 10:31.99 in the 1,000 free was good for third. Ellis Brooks’ 2:12.16 in the 200 fly gave her a fourth-place finish. Kelly Buchanan went 24.34 for fourth in the splash-and-dash.

Porter went on to score second-place points in the 500 free (5:08.27).

Alina Stout’s 2:02.43 in the 200 back went for third and her 1:53.57 took fifth in the 200 free. Tonner DeBeer (57.02) was fifth in the 100 back and second in the 100 fly (55.27).
