Dores Dominant at June Stewart Invitational

Successful first day at home tournament

NASHVILLE, Tenn. ­– The Vanderbilt women’s tennis team won all three doubles matches and five of its singles matches on day 1 of the June Stewart Invitational.

Celia-Belle Mohr paired with Anessa Lee for a 6-4 win over the duo of Josie Frazier and Megan Heuser of Illinois in doubles. The Bridget Stammel/Dasha Kourkina pairing also earned a victory in doubles, as did Marcella Cruz and Sonya Macavei.

The Commodores were also dominant in singles with five straight-set wins. Mohr, Stammel, Macavei, Cruz and Lee all found their way into the win column in their matches versus Purdue opponents.

Day 2 of the June Stewart Invitational is set for Saturday.
