Dores Contend at SEC Championships

Vanderbilt women earn ninth-place finish

OXFORD, Miss. — The Vanderbilt cross country program competed in the SEC Championships hosted by Ole Miss on Friday morning.

The Commodore women totaled 223 points to place ninth in the six-kilometer race and notched their fourth top-10 finish on the season. Sophomore Cameron Fawcett paced Vanderbilt for the second consecutive race. Facwett notched a time of 20:38.03 to place 28th.

The duo of senior Caroline Eck and freshman Audrey Allman each recorded top-40 finishes for the Commodores. Eck placed 39th with a time of 20:56.01, while Allman finished one spot behind at 40th with a mark of 20:56.25.  Senior Haley Walker (21:23.65) and sophomore Ella Lambert (21:30.64) rounded out Vanderbilt’s top-five performers.

The junior duo of Jenna Holland (21:33.64) and Lainey Phelps (21:34.82) and sophomore trio ofJulia Rosenberg (21:37.03), Emma Curry (22:23.67) and Gigi Clifford (22:59.54) were additional finishers for Vandy.

The Commodore men totaled 347 points in the eight-kilometer race to place 12th. Vanderbilt was led by sophomore Phillip Metcalf, who finished in 25:07.76, while fellow sophomore Zach Hodges (25:32.57) finished second among competing Dores.

Also finishing for Vanderbilt was the freshman trio of  Michael Schumacher (25:41.70), Brody Haar (26:32.50) and Dylan Ballard (28:44.90), junior Matthew Ragsdale (28:09.60) and senior Max Beck (28:14.01).

The Commodores return to action on Nov. 11 at the NCAA South Regionals, which will be held in Huntsville, Alabama.
