NASHVILLE —Day two at the Vanderbilt Invitational was highlighted by a Commodore win in the 400 meter hurdles and second place finishes in the high jump and pole vault.
The 400 meter hurdles provided the most exciting highlight of the day, with Vanderbilt’s Faith Washington and Jennifer Cannon battling down to the finish. In the end, it was Washington who was able to pull away and cross the line in 58.44 seconds, followed by Cannon in second place at 58.60.
The duo became just the third and fourth runners in Vanderbilt history to finish the 400 meter hurdles in under 60 seconds. The marks are the third and fourth best in program history.
Commodores then finished second and third in the high jump. Ellie Tidman placed in second, clearing 1.76 meters (5′ 9.25″). Brionne Williams was third, also clearing 1.76 meters. The marks for both were just shy of personal bests.
In the pole vault, Vanderbilt was looking for strong outings from seniors Morgan Toone and Alyson Hasty. Toone placed second with a vault of 3.61 meters (11′ 10″). Hasty placed fifth, also clearing 3.61 meters.

The program also took an opportunity honor its graduating members before the meet. Men’s cross country runners Alan Ash, Billy Malmed and Tomas Salazar, as long as women’s cross country/track and field athletes Kristen Findley, Alyson Hasty, Allie Scalf, Kristen Smith, Morgan Toone and Jordan White.
