'Dores compete at two meets this weekend

Niswonger Invitational results | MTSU Invitational results

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – The Vanderbilt track and field team split into two squads and competed at Eastern Tennessee State University and Middle Tennessee State University over the weekend.

At the 33rd annual Niswonger Invitational at ETSU, Anna Carr Hawkins placed third in the preliminaries of the 60m dash to automatically qualify for the finals. Taylor Jackson finished tied for 21st with a time of 7.89, while Josalyn White crossed the finish line at 8.04. Hawkins finished fifth in the 60m finals with a time of 7.69 seconds.

Hawkins also advanced to the finals of the 200m, with a time of 25.14. She finished less than a tenth of a second after in the finals with a time of 25.22 seconds. Teegan Hill clocked a time of 58.29 in the 400m dash.

In the high jump, Ellie Tidman and Brionne Williams both cleared a height of 5’7″, placing second and third, respectively. The Commodores also saw success in the pole vault, as Katherine Hendricks finished fourth after clearing a height of 11’11.75″. Morgan Toone cleared 10’11.75″ while Alyson Hasty cleared 10’6″.

At the MTSU Invitational, Jordan Sala cleared a height of 10’0″ in the pole vault, while Elizabeth Smith topped a height of 4’9.75″ in the high jump. In the 55m dash, Nia Washington clocked a time of 8.35 seconds.

The Commodores return to action next weekend at the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark.
