Vandy outlasted by Auburn at SEC Championships

HOOVER, Ala. – Sixth-seeded Vanderbilt exited the SEC Women’s Golf Championships Saturday after a 3-1-1 setback to third-seeded Auburn to close out the quarterfinals of the event’s match-play portion.

Teeing off at 7 a.m. CT at Greystone Golf and Country Club’s Legacy Course atop Vandy’s lineup, Austin Kim hung tough until falling, 5&4, to Megan Schofill.

Tess Davenport tallied the lone point for the Commodores, a 4&2 triumph over Julie McCarthy.

Louise Yu took Kaleigh Telfer to the wire before Telfer pulled out a 1-up win to help seal the win for the Tigers.

Mychael O’Berry defeated Morgan Baxendale, 7&6. Celina Sattelkau and Elena Hualde’s duel, which ended on the 17th hole match, resulted in a tie.

The Dores now await postseason selections for the NCAA Regional Championships hosted at select sites across the country.
