NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The No. 2 Vanderbilt bowling team continues its spring season at Lewis’ Storm Flyer Classic Friday through Sunday at Strike & Spare II in Lockport, Illinois. This is the first time Vandy has attended this event.
The Commodores had a weekend off following their win at the Prairie View A&M Invitational. Vandy emerged victorious in a stacked field where 10 of 12 teams were ranked top 25 in the country.
Freshman Sydney Bohn and graduate student Isabel Allen also saw success on the lanes in Arlington, Texas. Allen, who was just named the Conference USA Co-Bowler of the Month for January, was the event’s MVP and made the all-tournament team after topping the individual leaderboard and averaging 240.00 pins per game. Although Bohn missed out on the all-tournament team due only playing five of six games at the event, her 234.80 game average was the second highest in the field. Both Dores’ averages rank top 10 in school history for high tournament average, Allen at No. 3 and Bohn at No. 9.
Teams competing at the Storm Flyer Classic include Augustana, Aurora, Carroll, Elmhurst, Indianapolis, No. 3 Jacksonville State, Lewis, RV Marian, No. 10 Maryville, No. 13 McKendree, No. 1 Nebraska, No. 6 North Carolina A&T, Oklahoma Christian, Quincy, No. 8 Sam Houston, No. 9 Stephen F. Austin, No. 20 Tulane, No. 25 Valparaiso, Vanderbilt, No. 7 Wichita State, No. 19 Wright State and No. 5 Youngstown State.
Competition begins Friday at 10:35 a.m. with five sets of five Baker games. Saturday’s five traditional games will begin at 9:25 a.m. On Sunday, teams will bowl one more traditional game at 8:10 a.m., which will be followed by two rounds of best-of-seven Baker matches.
