DMR Team Breaks Seven Year Record

Resets No.1 time in school history

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Vanderbilt traveled to compete in the distance medley relay at the JDL DMR Invitational on Friday night.

The quartet of Taiya Shelby, Grace Jensen, Kaira Brown, and Caroline Eck raced in the DMR against Washington, NC State, Kentucky, Virginia, New Balance Team A, and Wake Forest.

The Commodore relay finished eighth overall with a time of 11:14.47, taking the top spot in school history in the event. The previous No. 1 record was held by C. Clayton, J. Edobi, S. Carpenter, and S. Barron from 2015 at 11:19.34.

“Tonight was a great night for Vanderbilt track and field, truly a testament to where our program is and where it is headed,” said Althea Thomas director cross country and track and field. “To be invited to this meet and break a school record while here is a great measure of how driven our young women are to compete at the highest level and put respect behind this program. We are excited to compete next weekend at the SEC Indoor Championship and build off the momentum from tonight.”

Vanderbilt will travel back to College Station to compete at the two-day SEC Indoor Championships on Friday and Saturday.
