Former Vanderbilt standouts ready for Super Bowl run

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt football will be well represented this weekend as the National Football League playoffs continue into the divisional round.

Three former Commodores will continue to try to help their respective teams reach Super Bowl LV on Feb. 7 in Tampa, Florida.

Vaughn and Buccaneers travel to New Orleans

Former Vanderbilt running back Ke’Shawn Vaughn will head to New Orleans, where he and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (11-5) are scheduled to play the New Orleans Saints (12-4) at 5:40 p.m. CT Sunday on FOX for an NFC divisional matchup.

Vaughn had five carries for 21 yards in Tampa Bay’s first-round win at Washington.

In his rookie season with the Buccaneers, Vaughn has played in 11 games. He totaled 26 carries for 109 yards and made five receptions for 34 yards before the start of the postseason.

A 5-foot-10, 214-pound Nashville native, Vaughn played 99 offensive snaps and 37 special teams plays during the regular season.

 

 

Burks and Packers face Los Angeles

After a bye in the wildcard round, Oren Burks and Green Bay Packers will host the Los Angeles Rams (10-6) at 3:35 p.m. CT Saturday on FOX in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

Burks (6-3, 233) is in his third season with the Packers (13-3). The linebacker appeared in 16 games during the regular season and booked 21 tackles, 1.0 tackle for a loss and two forced fumbles.

 

 

Smith, Chiefs host Cleveland

Emmanuel Smith (6-2, 240) is in his second season with the Kansas City Chiefs as a reserve linebacker. He appeared in his first NFL game Dec. 20 and played 16 snaps on special teams.

Kansas City (14-2) earned a bye into the divisional round and now hosts Cleveland (11-5) at 2:05 p.m. Sunday on CBS in the divisional round.
