June 29, 2007

LONDON, England — A pair of former Commodores qualified for the main draw at the 2007 Championships Wimbledon, taking place this week at the All England Lawn Tennis Club.

Three-time All-American Julie Ditty won a pair of qualifying matches with partner Raquel Kops-Jones to advance to the 64-team field of the ladies’ doubles’ main draw.

On the men’s side, Bobby Reynolds has also made an impressive showing in London. Reynolds, who climbed all the way to No. 1 in the collegiate rankings during his Commodore career, made both the singles’ and doubles’ draws at the event.

In singles, Reynolds breezed through three qualifying matches to reach the tournament’s main draw. He and teammate Amer Delic were invited directly into the doubles’ main draw, and subsequently won their first round match over Marcos Baghdatis and Stanislas Wawrinka in four sets.

The Championships Wimbledon continue at the All England Lawn Tennis Club through July 8.
