PARIS – Former Vanderbilt standout Julie Ditty lost her opening round match at the French Open, falling in straight sets to Nathalie Dechy at Stade Roland Garros in Paris.
Competing in the singles draw at the French Open for the first time in her career, Ditty dropped the opening set 7-5. Ditty, currently ranked No. 100 in the world, battled to get the second set into a tiebreaker before falling in the tiebreaker 7-3.
The French Open appearance marks the second time this year that Ditty has qualified for the singles draw at a grand slam event. She also fell in the first round at the Australian Open.
